Launched in 2022, ORNAMENTI is part of Lapicida, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of tiles and stone surfaces with an international customer base. The ORNAMENTI collection has expanded and evolved since its launch and now includes everything from frost-resistant Italian terracotta, sturdy zinc planters and elegant armillary spheres, to Versailles planters and Anduze ceramics. ORNAMENTI can also produce bespoke designs or provide garden and landscape accessories to meet the exacting requirements of individual customers and professional designers.
The collection is curated by Simon Scott, a two-time Chelsea Flower Show medal winning garden designer. With over 35 years of experience in the field, his expertise in garden ornaments and landscape heritage informs the ORNAMENTI collection, particularly as he sources beautiful products from across the UK and Europe.
One of the most impressive things about the ORNAMENTI range of planters is their size. These aren’t the planters you’d find at a garden centre… these are planters that make a big statement.
The timeless Versailles-style Chateau planters come with a clever modern twist: their side panels can be removed to allow access to change the soil inside or check the roots inside. The Biot Provencal pots make a distinctive statement, their antique patina helping them blend in with any garden, conservatory or greenhouse, whether planted or not. The straight-edged or rounded zinc planters combine traditional rustic shapes with a contemporary, industrial style.
Entirely in-house, ORNAMENTI can scan any object and build a 3D model using sophisticated software. One of the world’s largest five-axis CNC profiling machines is then used to shape the object from a single block of stone or marble, weighing up to 25 tonnes, before the piece is hand-finished by Lapicida’s master stonemasons. Previous projects have included a 15m long outdoor table, a feature fountain and large sculptures. ORNAMENTI can also source bespoke designs from around the world, from delicate Italian terracotta to sturdy English lead.
