We have some good news: Le Creuset is selling their most popular meringue colorway at a discount! The bad news, however, is that they’re discounting this colorway because it’s completely discontinued.
“Last chance for Meringue,” Le Creuset said in the caption of an Instagram post announcing the change, along with a white heart. “We’re saying goodbye to this soft, serene neutral. Follow the link in our bio to shop your favorites (on sale!) before they’re gone forever.”
This post received a strong “no” response from commenters.
“NO PLEASE DON’T GET RID OF THIS COLOR, PLEASE KEEP IT FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS, I WAS GOING TO USE THIS COLOR AS MY BASE COLOR FOR ALL MY PRODUCTS WHEN I HAVE A HOUSE!!!!!! please use creuset,” one commenter wrote, summarizing most of the rest of the comments.
“Please no! This is a timeless classic and I was planning on getting this color to match my newly renovated kitchen!” another wrote.
The general reaction is that meringue is a neutral, staple color that goes with everything—and that’s true. Luckily, there’s a factory-to-table sale going on right now, so you can get some of the stuff you want most.
And of course, there are plenty of other neutral alternatives as well.
Round Dutch Oven Featured in Meringue
If you know one thing about Le Creuset, chances are you know about the iconic Le Creuset Dutch oven. Crafted from cast iron, it’s been a fan favorite since 1925—nearly a century of cooking.
The advantage of cast iron is that it retains heat, so it’s ideal for slow cooking, braising, and roasting, but you can also bake and fry in this pot.
Signature Braiser in Meringue
Le Creuset’s enameled cast iron casserole is perfect for stewing meats and vegetables without having to fill it before you add the liquid and lock in the flavor with the lid.
Like many other Le Creuset products, this one is quite versatile: use it for deep frying, steaming, stewing or serving. Plus, it’s easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
Featured pan in Meringue
The Signature Skillet Enameled Cast Iron Skillet is exactly what you think it is – one of the most versatile kitchen items Le Creuset has to offer. Suitable for sautéing, stir-frying, stir-frying and more.
What makes this pan especially popular is that it has a black satin enamel finish, which means you don’t have to maintain and temper it like a regular cast iron pan.
Heritage Rectangular Casserole in Meringue
Everyone needs a good serving dish, and Le Creuset has you covered. This dish is perfect for—you guessed it—stews, but it’s also great for desserts, meat dishes, fish, and more. The sandstone lid retains moisture and heat, and can also be used as a topper for potlucks, picnics, and leftovers.
Signature 9-Piece Enameled Cast Iron Cookware Set White
Just because Meringue is leaving Le Creuset doesn’t mean you can’t get a full set in your favorite neutral color. Similar to the discontinued color, this white nine-piece cast iron cookware set includes the signature round Dutch oven, oval Dutch oven, casserole, skillet, and frying pan.
Cassadou featured in Brioche
Brioche is a near-perfect neutral bread to add to your kitchen if you want to replace the now-discontinued Meringue. This signature Cassadou can double as a saute pan or a small cast iron pot, depending on what you’re cooking.
If you couldn’t get your hands on any of these meringues at the last minute, don’t worry – there are plenty of other colors on sale. Happy shopping!
